It is on..

The number is Two.

Two events where teams of two compete at the two best boulder fields in Alabama.

The format will require teamwork and strategy to win. The well-planned circuit finished by noon won't be an option. The competitive pair with the strongest muscles, best skin, and biggest egos may have a slight advantage, but it will take more than the power of ONE to win.

The events kick off on March 1st with the FIRST ever bouldering competition at Hospital Boulders, an area recently acquired by the Southeastern Climber's Coalition. This will be your chance to get a tour of the multitude of classic problems that dot the climber-owned tract of land. We will take a week to let the skin heal, and return on March 15th to Horse Pens 40 for the final round of the competition.

The Horse Pens 40 venue will have the classic Sloperfest atmosphere with food vendors and live music from Bluegrass to Classic Rock throughout the day.

Format

2 person team.  That’s right two people compete together.  The individual format is out on this one.  You must have a partner to compete. Climbers will be faced with seeking out a set number of problems within each field for their category within the 7 hour time slot at each boulder field.  Each competition will have 30 problems prominently marked for each team category (see below) for identification, but guides/map will not be provided. It will be the job of the competitive teams to seek out problems within the labyrinths of stone.  Strategy is the name of the game here.

The team that finishes ALL problems in the quickest time wins.  If all problems are not completed the team with the most problems completed in the 7 hour time wins.  A winner will be determined for individual comps and cumulative time/problems completed at the two events will determine winners for series. You must climb with the same partner at both events in order to be considered for the series prizes.

Determining categories:
Categories determined by the SUM OF YOUR TEAM'S HP40 bouldering level.  If you boulder V11 in the gym, and can barely muster the V3 squeeze at HP then the V3 level is what your ego must swallow for this event.

Example--Let’s say you are a V9 crusher and your boyfriend sends V3.  In this case your combined V-grade for this comp would be V12 putting your team in the Puff category. Team makeup will not be biased by age or gender.  11 year old girls are climbing the hardest routes in the country, and old men blow off pseudo-crushers everyday so there will be no excuses...
The problems:
Fluff  (V0-V3)          Chuff  (V4-9)           Puff (V10-V15)         Tough (V16-V22)

-The Fluff circuit will consist of classics up to V2.
-The Chuff circuit will focus on the easier lines in the parks topping out at V4.
-The Puff circuit will hit from easier to moderate with the limit being V7.
-The Tough will hit mainly moderates, but will have enough difficulty to fill the air in your chest topping out with V10.

Credit for problems:
In order to receive credit for a problem only one member of the team has to complete it, BUT your partner must be spotting and present for the ascent. You are not allowed to split up and travel throughout the parks completing problems individually. Competitors climbing without team member will be disqualified.
Prizes

Prizes will be awarded to third place in every category. Over all winners of both comps should expect a little something extra from one of our sponsors.

Are you up to the challenge?
